It’s no secret that I love goal-setting but it’s certainly changed for me over the years.
I have a combination of things that all tie in with goal-setting.
I start with a review of where I am in each key area of my life and get clear about what matters to me.
In some areas, I will create goals - Specifically action goals. These are goals that I have full control over. For example, write this newsletter every single week for the full year
Then I create intentions - I see these as goals I need help with (help from the universe, angels, God… or pure good luck). These are things such as… I intend to achieve 1000 Subscribers by the end of the year (P.S. I set this intention at the start of the year and at the time of writing this post, I’m just over 900 subscribers). I can’t make people subscribe but I can ask for support from the universe, etc.
Then I also have FOCUS AREAS usually for all key areas of life. These are the areas I want to focus my attention above anything else. For example, in my business my key focus areas for this year have been - This newsletter, Medium, my blog and Pinterest. In my personal life, it’s making sure I have time for myself as well as making sure I see key people in my life and be present with them.
These all generally tie in with each other to create a big picture of what I want in my life for any given period.
I love to do this at the beginning of the year and then review everything at the end of each month. This helps to keep me on track.
Back to the question…
Does goal setting work for you?
My answer is yes. A big yes.
But I feel I need to explain my answer a little more for you to fully understand my reply.
I don’t always achieve all of my goals.
In fact, I sometimes get a few months down the line and realize I don’t actually want to achieve a certain goal and that’s okay.
This process keeps me focused and on track.
I achieve some goals.
And I see the ones I don’t achieve as a journey to success. I will usually have achieved a lot in this area to be proud of.
For example. I started this year with just over 100 subscribers. My intention was to have 1000 subscribers by the end of the year.
Right now I have just over 900 subscribers.
Of course, miracles can happen and there’s still time for more people to join me.
But, will I have failed at my goal if I don’t get to that magical 1000 mark?
Absolutely not.
I’m immensely proud of myself for creating this newsletter and I’m incredibly grateful to every one of you who subscribed.
This is a reason to celebrate and a huge success.
My goal-setting, intentions and focus areas all kept me on track to achieve something important to me.
The goal process will continue a little longer, that’s all.
So, yes. I believe 100% that goal setting works for me.
Let’s do a recap of the process if you’d like to give it a go…
Review where you are right now
Set goals (actionable goals)
Set intentions - Ask the universe for help
Decide on your focus area - The things you want to focus your attention on
Review monthly
I’d love to hear about the things you want to focus on in 2025.

That's a good list of questions!
Yes, I do set goals, and I'm working on them right now.
I really like the idea of reassesssing and tweaking, and I'll be discussing that in a post that I'm publishing on Sunday.
This is so interesting!
What is your approach to conducting a Yearly Review? What kind of questions do you ask yourself?
