The Real Reason I Became A Mindset Coach
And how it makes me a better person.
This post was originally published on Medium. If you are a Medium member please read here - This will help with my earnings through the platform. Thanks.
I’ve been coaching for a long time. I started as a Life Skills Coach back in 2009.
If I’m honest, even though I had a qualification, I still didn’t FEEL like a Coach. At least, not a very good one.
Then I discovered the Law of Attraction. I was hooked and studied for 2 years to qualify as a Law of Attraction Practitioner. I finally felt like I had something valuable to share with my clients and so much that I was still struggling with started to fall into place.
I felt like I had found my place in the coaching world.
I still love the law of attraction, it’s amazing.
Here’s my top tip: Think of the law of attraction as a very powerful helping hand — You do your bit and the law of attraction responds.
You can read my story here. This is where it began.
Why I Became A Life Coach And A Law of Attraction Practitioner
(Leave a comment if you want the free-to-read link for the above post)
But selling myself as a Law of Attraction Coach never really sat right for me either.
And neither did selling myself as an EFT Master Practitioner. That bit came later (2014)
Yes, I’m all of those things but what was it that I really did? I help people create a positive mindset using all the knowledge, techniques and tricks that I’ve learned along the way.
But most importantly, I help myself every single day to have a positive mindset.
So, calling myself a Mindset Coach sits well for me because I know it works.
Most people who know me or read my articles and stories online would describe me as a positive person.
And I am. Most of the time.
But, it takes work.
I never take being a positive person for granted, because the truth is that I know how easy it would be for me to slip back into a world where every day is a struggle to get out of bed. Every day is a face — My fake face that says to the world “Sure, I’m doing great!” a world where I am not enough and struggle to find me.
I don’t ever want to be that person again, but I know she’s still there somewhere in the depths of my mind.
So, every day, I work on my mindset. Every single day.
It’s part of who I am now.
I like who I am.
I love myself.
I am happy with how I show up in life.
I’m happy with my imperfect life.
I made a decision a long time ago that I wanted to go to bed every night and be pleased with how I showed up in life. I remind myself of that almost daily.
I never want to look in a mirror at myself again and not recognize the person looking back at me as I did many years ago.
I never want to see a person who’s given up on her dreams.
I never want to see a person who doesn’t like herself.
That’s why I work on my mindset every day.
That’s why being a Mindset Coach is the best job in the world (for me).
Before I finish, I want to share some of the things I do to keep myself feeling positive.
I set clear intentions about what I want each day. I’m not suggesting everything works out exactly as I want, but the intention sends a message to the universe and my subconscious mind. It also creates an energy that matches what I want.
Affirmations — I fill my mind with messages that support me. My favourite of all time is “Every day, in every way, my life gets better and better.” It helped me rebuild my life and I still use it today to keep improving.” My other favourite right now is “I am a phenomenal woman”
Affirmations — Power questions that suggest to your subconscious mind and the universe that something is already true for you. Here’s one I love “Why does my life get better and better all the time?”
Visualizing — I spend time most days visualizing my day as I want it and also visualizing things I want in my life in general.
EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) — It’s an energy technique and it’s so simple — You can read my EFT GUIDE to learn the technique for yourself. I do some EFT daily, even if it’s just a quick round (it takes less than a minute) — I’ll usually spend some time saying my affirmations along with tapping on the EFT points. I also use it if I need to release any low energy or emotions.
I focus my attention on what I want. My favourite law of attraction power question is “If I don’t want this, what do I want?”
I like to listen to hypnosis audios. If you want a recommendation, please ask.
I listen to podcasts that inspire me, educate me or generally help me to feel positive. There’s a lovely one called “Nothing much happens” that I’m loving at the moment that’s great for helping me fall asleep.
I use this mirror trick that I learned from Louise Hay — Every time I look at myself in the mirror I say “I love you” followed by something nice about myself.
I focus on gratitude — I think gratitude is a superpower that we all have. We can be having the worst day and shift our attention to what we’re grateful for. I like to be specific about things I’m grateful for about the day as well as the general things like family, health, my home, my business…
I spend time at the end of the day doing a recap of what went well in my life.
I’m always open to learning more.
My aim is always to feel my best, be my best and keep creating a life I love.
It’s also to help other people feel their best, be their best and create a life they love.
I hope if you’ve made it to this point of my story that I’ve helped in some small way.
Are you already doing any of the things I do to stay positive?
Do you do anything different?
Thank you so much for reading today.
