Is Worrying A Useful Things To Focus On?
Inspired by a convesation about worry boxes in schools.
Hey, thank you for being here with me today.
Today’s newsletter was inspired by a slightly random thing that Alex Kent from The Guild Of Energists said on a monthly meet-up call.
I was listening to the replay and this is what Alex said…
He said that his children’s school has installed a worry box where children can write about their worries and put them in the box.
Alex is now pushing the school to install a happy box alongside it.
Let me share my thoughts with you.
I appreciate that the worry box is a good idea in schools where children can feel safe sharing any worries. Also for them to understand that worry is a normal emotion.
But I love the idea of having a happy box beside it.
What a great idea for the children to also be able to share why they feel happy and know that happiness is a wonderful emotion too.
I’m a natural worrier. I can go into a whole make-believe story that escalates from something very small to something huge in minutes.
I can easily go to the worst-case scenario very quickly and even make myself ill with all my worrying.
In most cases, this is something I’ve created in my mind that may or may not ever happen.
One of the first things I learned during my law of attraction practitioner training that stood out was that when we worry, we add focus and energy to what we do not want!
When we worry we become a vibrational match for that thing we worry about.
WAIT A MINUTE - Okay, before I send you into a panic. I want to say that the law of attraction rarely works where things show up immediately.
For example. If you focus on and become a vibrational match for manifesting a promotion at work or a wonderful job offer, it rarely shows up immediately. There’s a kind of time delay.
Therefore, if you catch yourself worrying, don’t panic that it’s going to happen. That’s just going to increase the level of worry even more. Instead, acknowledge the worry and shift your focus to the outcome you want, the things you want.
Get curious. What would be the best scenario, the best outcome, etc?
When you worry, your negative thoughts spiral.
When you make the shift, you allow positive thoughts to spiral.
Think POSITIVE EXPECTATIONS.
I qualified as a Law of Attraction Practitioner in June 2011 after 2 years of training. Does this mean I no longer worry about anything?
No, absolutely not!
But, what I can do is spot it really quickly and shift my attention and energy to something better feeling, a better scenario, a better outcome something positive.
Here’s what it goes like…
I notice that I’m worrying about something
Okay, I acknowledge it. What are the facts? What is true right now?
Then I shift my attention to a positive outcome.
Put positive thoughts and positive energy into the situation instead of adding negativity.
Let’s go back to the worry box and the happy box.
When my son was at school, he would come home and complain about his day. So, I started asking him to tell me about 3 things he liked about his day.
At first, he thought it was stupid. I persevered and he humoured me. He knew that every night I would say, tell me three things you liked about your day.
To begin with, he struggled to think of anything he liked. Then it got easier and he would remember all kinds of things.
Imagine if he’d come home and I’d said EVERY DAY, tell me three things you’re worrying about? His mind would have found 3 things to worry about. He would have created the worry when it didn’t need to be there.
That doesn’t mean I didn’t allow him a space to worry but it wasn’t the first place we went to.
If I could see he wasn’t himself or was looking down, I would ask him, are you worrying about anything? And I would absolutely give him that safe place to talk about his worries.
But I would use those key steps.
Acknowledge
What’s the truth right now? What are the facts?
What would you like to happen? What is a better feeling thought/scenario?
It’s never about ignoring or blocking out worry, it’s about seeing it for what it is and then shifting your focus.
Try EFT Tapping to Help Release Worry.
Goodness, this is a really old video but it’s a wonderful demonstration of how to use EFT tapping to release worry. Just tap along with me.
Gosh, look how curly my hair is in this video. And blonde. Yes, my hair is naturally curly but I have finally accepted that I am more brown with a splash of grey than blonde.
Thank you so much for being here with me. I appreciate you so much.

“when we worry, we add focus and energy to what we do not want!” I never thought of it this way!
I shall focus on the outcome I do want!
