How Many Goals Should You Have?
Hmm, this is not a clear cut answer but I have lots of thoughts to share with you and I'll tell you what workd best for me. Remember thata goal is anything you want to achieve.
How many goals is the right amount for you?
Let’s look at some ideas for how many goals to set. Do let me know what is working for you right now or what’s not.
I also want to talk with you today about getting that extra ongoing coaching, guidance and support from me right here within the Empowerment Zone.
I hope you’ve had a wonderful week, feel free to share your wins and tell me about any goals you’re working on.
An abundance of goals
This is where you have an unlimited amount of goals. For some people, this works wonderfully because it gives them a sense that anything is possible.
For me personally, I would get overwhelmed and not focus on any of them.
Instead, to create that sense that anything is possible, I like to play the “Wouldn’t it be great” game.
For example, Wouldn’t it be great if I got 1000 newsletter subscribers by the end of the month? Wouldn’t it be great if I made an extra 100 sales this month? Wouldn’t it be great if I lost 5 pounds this month? Wouldn’t it be great if I got all my housework jobs done today? Wouldn’t it be great if I had a cleaner come in twice a week to do all my housework?
You get the idea.
Having a huge list of goals doesn’t work for me, but that doesn’t mean it wouldn’t work for you.
A few focused goals with umbrella goals
This is where you focus on a small number of specific key goals. Within that framework, you may well have lots of smaller goals.
For example, I have recently put on a little weight and want to drop back to my happy zone. The key goal is the weight zone I want to be in. I then have smaller goals connected to this. These are what I call umbrella goals.
Your outline of the umbrella is the main KEY GOAL then you add smaller goals inside the open umbrella.
I’m a big fan of umbrella goals. Do you like my little diagram? I’m pretty pleased with it.
I find this way works very well. I don’t overload myself and end up not focusing on anything.
