For days when you just don't want to adult anymore
The days you just want to hide under the duvet.
Hi Everyone, Thanks for being here with me.
Often when I tell people that I’m a Mindset Coach, they assume I have everything all together and I’m super positive all the time.
I can tell you right now that is NOT the case.
My coaching journey started not long after my dad died. I’d gone past the initial grief stages and found myself crying in front of the bathroom mirror.
My dad was a truly lovely man and I knew all he wanted for me was to be happy and live my life however I wanted.
I realised at that moment that I was neither happy nor living my life the way I wanted. In fact, I was outright miserable.
I made a decision that day that I was going to make changes and get back to loving myself and living my life the way I wanted.
Part of that process resulted in the end of my life in Spain and the end of my marriage.
Another part of the journey was training to be a certified Life Skills Coach. My very first coaching certificate.
Whilst that particular course wasn’t the best in the world, it did help me to shift my focus and learn how to focus on the person I wanted to be.
I felt like I was bettering myself by doing the course.
My journey is not over and I hope it won’t be for a very long time. I love learning about how to improve ourselves and especially our mindset.
But…
Oh yes, I have a but. I never want you to think I have it all together. I don’t think that’s helpful to anyone.
I want to share the real me with you. The ups and downs of life and emotions and share the things I do to move through the low days.
So, today’s tips are specifically for those days when you’ve had enough of adulting and you just want to hide away under your duvet.
Go easy on yourself - You’re almost certainly doing better than you think right now
Delete (just for today) anything that is a non-essential. Do the essentials in the easiest way possible. Perfection is NOT on the table today.
Don’t be afraid to be honest with people. If you’ve made plans to do something and you really need to just take some time for yourself. It’s fine to send a message letting them know you’re having a rough day and need to cancel. I tend to like to deal with things by myself without other people’s input, so I might add something along the lines of… Everything will be fine, just got too much going on right now and really need to take some time today for myself. Let the person know they mean a lot to you and you will be in touch soon to rearrange.
Do something you want to do. For me, that might be listening to podcasts, watching a film or tv series, taking a bath or writing.
Do some EFT or listen to some Hypnosis Audios, focus on gratitude, say some affirmation in your mind, visualize something better feeling…

On your good days, try adding to a gratitude journal or an achievements journal. Then when you’re having a low day, you can look back through these to uplift yourself.
